Getting in that holiday spirit

Getting in the holiday spirit - painted NOEL sign

Getting into the holiday spirit once again. I made a recent trip my local craft store and found this adorable NOEL sign. It was unpainted when I purchased it, but I knew exactly how I wanted it to look. unpainted noel

I painted each layer with gesso and let dry.

The sign separated into three layers, which made it very easy to paint as well as re-assemble.

I used Red acrylic for the back layer. I painted several coats of the red to get the color I was looking for.  The NOEL layer was painted with White acrylic and I finished up with Black acrylic for the frame. After painting each layer , I let it dry completely before putting it all together.  I just love how it turn out.  What do you all think?

Let it snow …

I heard they had flurries last night in my home state of Ohio. My brother told me they had about 4 inches. I am happy that I live in the south.  But I do love a white Christmas.

I was putting the finishing touches on my last few Christmas cards and thought I would share the finished product.

This cute little snowman is call Snowy and he is from Penny Black.  I found the designer paper at my local craft store.    This cute little guy makes me smile! Snowy the snowmanSnowy the snowman 2

Here is the last card I made using a Penny Black stamp set as well.

I called it my “Whimsical Santa”.  I’m hoping they come out with a coordinating die, since it was alot of fussy cutting.  I colored him using Copic markers. I’m still learning but had fun coloring them.  The trees were stamped using Stampers Anonymous “Tree line” stamp set.

Wishing you a “Spooky” Halloween!

I am still experimenting with my distress inks.   I will admit,  I was actually afraid to try these.  My advice to you is keep trying.  My first few attempts never made it out of the craft room. But I think i’m getting the hang of it.  The background was made using Distress Ink “Cracked Pistachio, Spiced Marmalade and Chipped Sapphire”.  I put a little ink on my craft mat and then spritzed generously with water.  I repeated the process several times. Sometimes using more than one color ink.  I used a heat tool to dry each layer before inking again.  I was really please with the outcome.  So what do you think?

Halloween will soon be here….

Well I mailed off my Halloween cards this week (so happy to get that done).  I was especially pleased with how they turned out this year.  I used a variety of products  from Stampin Up!, Ranger, Stamper’s Anonymous and of course Tim Holtz.  Some of the DSP was purchased at my local papercrafting store.

I could not decide which stamps  from Tim Holtz, I liked better.  So I pretty much used them all.  These cards were made with the “Monsters”, ” and “Haunted House” stamp sets. I used a variety of Distress Inks for my backgrounds.

And how about the greeting on the” pumpkinhead ” card?  That Halloween stamp got a work out.  I used it on most of the insides of my cards.   Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about what products I used.

Thank you for stopping by and have a Happy and Safe Halloween!!

See you soon!

Sorry I have been away

Sorry for being away so long. It was not my intent to take this long of a break.  I was able to spend time in my craft room, for which I am very thankful.

Life has been a little busy to say the least.  I went to visit family in Ohio this past March for a few days. In May we had my son’s graduation from college.  I was back up in Ohio in August for a high school reunion.  We were also busy planning my son’s  wedding this past September.  To top it all off  our grand daughter started pre-k this year too. I do love driving them to and from school.  When she comes home she does love playing in my craft room.

I have been having so much fun playing with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  They are so amazing!  I have the most beautiful “happy accidents“.

Look for my new uploads!

Baby wipe technique

I am always up for trying  something new and recently saw a pin on Pinterest with this technique.  The technique is not new and has been around awhile but it is new to me.

Using Stampin’ Up! re-inkers and a baby wipe.  I added  about 7-9 drops each of Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Smokey Slate ink.

I chose the Paisley’s & Posies (142196) and Paisley Framielit Dies (141849) for my card from the 2016 Holiday Catalog.

Here is my finished card….

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again soon!
